Ecstatic dance in Bali: where to dance
Updated on 17 October 2026
No alcohol, no talking on the dance floor, just music and movement. Here's where to find ecstatic dance across Bali each week.
Ecstatic dance is one of Bali's best-loved rituals: a DJ, an opening circle, a couple of hours of free movement, and a closing. Most sessions are sober, phone-free and open to complete beginners.
When are the dances?
Most studios below run one or two dances a week, usually in the evening or on Sunday mornings, with special editions around the full moon. Days change, so check this week's dances on our live day view for Ubud, Canggu and Uluwatu.
Ubud
The Yoga Barn is the original and still the biggest ecstatic dance in Bali. Alchemy Ubud runs its own dance, RISE.
Canggu
Udara in Seseh hosts a Sunday Dance as part of its Sunday Festival, which also includes yoga, breathwork and sound healing.
Uluwatu
Alchemy Uluwatu runs RISE too, and The Istana hosts a cacao dance.
Seminyak
Potato Head Wellbeing offers a healing-through-dance session as part of its wellbeing programme.
First time? A few tips
- Arrive early; popular dances fill up.
- Wear something easy to move in. Most dances are barefoot.
- No talking, phones or alcohol on the floor.
- There's no right way to dance. Move however feels good.
We choose studios on Google reviews, the depth of their timetable and what each does best. Class times change often, so check our live timetable or the studio's own booking page before you go. Run one of these studios and something's wrong? Tell us.
